Bonnie, Summer 2019 Session – she had a telescope she never used, it broke, she bought another one just like it (she now has spare parts) – she STILL never used it. We had 8 classes that time so we made the last one an equipment workshop. We both brought telescopes – worked with hers – then the 10” F4.7 (borrowed from the local astronomy club) and after showing her the techniques on the Club ‘scope, she had and ‘Ah Ha’ moment w/hers, in one session!
Rick, Fall 2019 Session – Has a spotting ‘scope for hunting, couldn’t figure out how to use it for Astronomy – w/just ONE ‘hack’ that took a few minutes to show him, he can now find anything, anywhere in the night sky for the rest of his life! Also mentioned a tool he could buy at some point to get even more use out of his spotting ‘scope.
Kaye, Fall 2019 Session – received a 130mm F5 telescope as a gift and struggled to put it together, align it correctly (polar aligned) and use it. First class she brought it – we got the correct angle set, started looking for objects in the night sky and by the third session with her new telescope, she found Jupiter and Saturn BY HERSELF! Also gave Kay advice on storing her new eyepieces to protect them a little better.
Vicky, Fall 2019 Session – wasn’t really interested in the class, came with her hubby – by the 2nd session, she was asking the most questions!
Elizabeth, Nov/Dec 2019 – she discovered a new ‘hack’ during an observing session.
Henrietta, Nov/Dec 2019 – tried to snag a JPL Tour for about a year before attending my class. Got my report, reserved a Tour first try the very next time they opened Tours for the facility!
