How do they form? What is their structure? How do they die? What could we use them for?

Double Star Observing Program

The next episode of our Friday Night Show airs on February 2nd at 9pm Pacific time!

Find 100 double and multiple star systems in the night sky to earn a certification and more.

“To qualify for the Astronomical League’s Double Star certificate and pin, observe the 100 listed objects. Any telescope may be used, but one with a 60-mm or larger objective is recommended. Star hopping is preferred over “go-to” or “push-to” methods, but we will not insist on this if the rest of the observations are clear, well-documented, and unhurried. Because the equipment requirements for this program are modest, the use of remote telescopes is not allowed.”

The next episode of our Friday Night Show airs on January 26th at 9pm Pacific time!

“Join the Search for Undiscovered Worlds

“The Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) is providing us with a huge amount of data that lets us look for planets outside of our own Solar System, including planets that could support life. With your help, we are going to find planets that will help us understand how these extrasolar systems form and evolve over time. The results may even bring us closer to answering the question that we all want to answer: Are we alone in the Universe??”
