UPDATE: YouTube confirmed the 8 million concurrent views, but it’s worth noting that Dan Rayburn, EVP of StreamingMedia.com, makes a case that the media (yeah, that means me too) need to be careful using livestream numbers.
Also, if you search Twitter for “502 error youtube,” it’s clear many would-be viewers were frustrated by not getting on. On the other hand, many on Twitter were counting the views as they watched the stream.
